ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Manipur University was established on 5^th June 1980 under the Manipur University Act. 1980 (Manipur Act 8 of 1980), as a teaching-cum-affiliating university at Imphal with territorial jurisdiction over the whole of the state of Manipur and it was converted into a Central University w.e.f. 13/10/2005. The Manipur University Act No 54 of 2005 received the assent of the President on 28/12/2005. At present, the University has 108 affiliated colleges inclusive of 2 medical colleges. Manipur Institute of Technology (MIT) is a constituent college of the University.Located at Canchipur, Imphal, the capital city of Manipur.

Eligibility

Candidates who have passed the PG examination in the concerned lallied subject with 55% marks or above /B Grade in the seven point scale or above (50% marks for SC/ST/ OBC (non creamy layer), Differently abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the UGC from time to time, or for those who had obtained their
Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991) and those who have appeared the
qualifying examination and waiting for results are eligible to apply for provisional
admission into Pre-Ph.D. Programme.
The number of vacancies will be determined at the time of provisional registration. Only those candidates who successfuly complete the Pre-Ph.D. course work with a
minimum of B Grade in the 7-point scale will be eligible for registration to the PhD.

date of Ph.D. Registration
Candidate who have passed (a) M.Tech//M.E in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA in 10 point scale or 60 percent marks in aggregate from a recognized Institute/University or (b) B.Tech/B.E. in relevant discipline with at least 8.5 CGPA or 80
percent marks in aggregate from a recognized technical institute or university with a valid
GATE score.
The Minimum CGPA/marks shall be relaxed by 0.5 CGPA or 5 marks in case of candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PWD categories.
